There has been some mixed news for online casino software developers recently. CryptoLogic is one of the software providers whose customized gambling software powers many of the online casinos you can find at sites like Online Casino Reports. They are based out of Toronto, Canada and rank up there with Playtech and Microgaming when it comes to online casino software. They have recently seen an increase in business but there was also some uncertainty due to Bet Fair's recent activity.
Mr. Rose, the President of CryptoLogic, made a comment recently on speculation that one of their big clients may jump ship: "While Betfair is uniquely positioned with internal expertise, our other customers - who are primarily gaming and or casino organizations - continue to benefit from the greater liquidity, outsourced technical expertise and expanding online casino product offerings developed by CryptoLogic."
Betfair's is trying to develop it's own in house, customized poker software which would service their online casino poker sites. This is a potential threat to CryptoLogic who up until now provided all their poker software. It is yet to be seen how this will play out and if the online casino will develop its own software as opposed to outsourcing the job to casino software companies.
